Glasses and contacts can be a hassle, preventing you from living your best life. On the other hand, surgery can be scary. Not to worry, because your personal LASIK Coordinator will be with you through every step of the process, ensuring a smooth and successful vision correcting journey.
Dr. Eric Van Meter will begin the process by checking your prescription stability, eye dominance, corneal thickness, corneal topography, etc. After completing preliminary testing with Dr. Van Meter, you will then have an appointment with our board-certified surgeon, Dr. Kim Burrell, who specializes in LASIK and PRK surgery.

At Centennial Eye & Cosmetics Associates, we're equipped to perform both LASIK and PRK. Call today for your FREE LASIK consultation appointment and reduce or eliminate your dependency on glasses or contacts.
LASIK is a safe, extremely precise surgical procedure that uses advanced excimer laser technology to correct vision. LASIK (Laser in-Situ Keratomileusis) is refractive eye surgery that allows you to see better and live a more active, carefree life. For many, the LASIK procedure restores eyesight so you no longer need to wear glasses or contacts.
LASIK is often so effective that patients can pass a driver’s test without glasses or contacts. It’s a life-changing experience, and Dr. Burrell has nearly 20 years of experience performing LASIK surgeries with a less than 1% enhancement rate!
In LASIK surgery, a flap is created on your cornea. With the flap up, lasers can be used to reshape your cornea in about a minute with extreme precision, within 0.25 microns. The laser can be adjusted to correct for myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness), and astigmatism. The flap is then lowered and allowing healing to begin. The result is improved vision correction without glasses or contacts.
With PRK surgery, the top layer of the cornea is removed. Then, lasers are used to shape the cornea and change the curvature of your eye for improved vision. PRK is typically performed when there is not enough corneal tissue for LASIK. Recovery with PRK is a bit longer but has a similar outcome.
Describing the procedure makes it sound painful, but most patients don't feel anything thanks to numbing eye drops. Afterward, you may feel mild discomfort that can be minimized with medication. In many cases, you’ll experience improved sight within the first 24 hours after surgery. The majority of patients return to their daily activities within a day.

I started seeing Dr. Burrell back in 2000 when she was starting her practice. I have had significant eye problems since I was a child, so it was great to have a doctor who was able to understand all my issues. In 2015 I had cataract surgery in both eyes and Dr. Burrell was outstanding. Those surgeries were life changing. In recent years I have also seen Dr. Van Meter and been very pleased with him as well. I experienced nothing but professionalism and kindness in my 24 years of visiting this office and have referred several of my friends there.
